Our Founding  Alpha Chi Omega has a rich history, beginning in Greencastle, Indiana at DePauw University. The dean of DePauw’s School of Music, Professor James Hamilton Howe, encouraged seven women to create a society for female music students. These seven women became the founders of the Alpha Chi Omega women’s fraternity. Although it started as a small group, Alpha Chi Omega has now grown to over 200,000 members and over 130 collegiate chapters.
